Over the centuries, India has been
a land of mystery. From the very ancient past to the modern days, it has
evolved hugely.Right from the days of Harappan and Indus-valley Civilization,
it has had its own Grandeur, Glory and Splendor. Its culture is considered to
be one amongst the very few Best cultures in the world.
If one looks at the history of India , corruption has not been so
much prevalent in the Indian society in the ancient times. During the reign of the
Moghal empire(15th to 19th century) and the Gupta dynasty
there was corruption but not to the extent that it is right now. Corruption has
grown exponentially in the last few decades. Let us examine the reasons behind
this huge growth in corruption.
“ Necessity is the mother of invention
“ -goes a well known proverb.Whenever a person needs something, he tries to
find it in any possible way. This way can be good or bad. The bad ways include
plundering, snatching or getting corrupted. Amongst all these, corruption seems
to be the easiest way. Because in this one just needs to take advantage of his
powerful designation and then he can make a lot of money and fulfill his needs.
It can also occur due to extra greed of obtaining all
the luxuries of life viz costly furniture, ornaments, a lot of money, precious vehicles
etc. in the shortest possible time. In-short, he gradually becomes a Greedy
corrupt person - a scar on the face of modern society.
Whatever the reason may be, corruption not only disintegrates
a Nation, but also spoils the character of a human being to a very large extent.
Just like how a Python engulfs its prey and than pressurizes it slowly towards
death, in the same way corruption can weaken and destroy a human society.
